Summer is winding down. Schools in the Kent area will resume within a few weeks’ time. This means the roads will be dotted with school buses. Traffic rules are very strict regarding driver behavior when driving behind a school bus. The road rules are simple, but many commuters pay heavy fines because they drive past a bus when they’re supposed to stop. Behind a School Bus? Follow These Laws If the lights in the rear and front of the bus are flashing red, and a stop sign pops out from the side of the bus, then you must stop. Period! This applies to ALL cars behind the bus regardless of the lane. Sometimes, the flashing lights will flash yellow before turning red. This is a warning for you to prepare to stop. Here is another traffic law most drivers are unaware of: ALL drivers from the opposite road must also come to a halt.
